Van Sinvongsa began cooking traditional Thai food as a 13-year-old girl in her home country Lao. Three decades later, she's transformed her cooking hobbies in to a successful Merced restaurant that expanded to a second restaurant in July 2007. While Thai Cuisine I serves traditional Thai dishes, Thai Cuisine II is a typical dining experience via authentic decorations and atmosphere. Van, 44, moved to Merced in 1990 after leaving Laos because of a government takeover by communists. She spent five years cooking at two San Francisco Thai restaurants. Now her hardwork has landed herself two restaurants in Merced, California. Thai Cuisine I was a restaurant that gave Merced it's first taste of Southeast Asian cuisine. Now Thai Cuisine II will keep giving Merced a nice atmosphere to carry on that traditional Thai experience.
